HOUSTON (Feb. 22, 2012) – Cat Lift Trucks, a provider of lift trucks known for quality, reliability and customer service, has rewarded an exceptional Houston-area high school student with a $5,000 scholarship for their higher education pursuit. Now in its eighth year, the Cat Lift Trucks Scholarship program annually awards deserving students based on their academic performance, extracurricular activities and community leadership and involvement. 

Jessica Sheely of Missouri City, Texas was selected from more than a hundred applicants to receive the scholarship based on her superb demonstration of academic merit, leadership and community involvement.

Sheely is currently ranked in the top ten percent of the 2012 graduating class at Elkins High School in Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD). For the past three years, Jessica has been awarded the FBISD Academic Excellence Award for excelling scholastically by maintaining a high grade point average. Sheely is also a member of the National Honor Society and National English Honor Society. She remains active in the community by volunteering her time at the Houston Habitat for Humanity, Community Leadership Club and Sugarland Animal Shelter. In the fall, Sheely plans to continue her education at the University of Texas in Austin to pursue a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Sheely will accept her scholarship at an award reception held in March at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, where Cat Lift Trucks will serve as the Official Lift Truck Provider. Including this year’s scholarship program, the company has awarded more than $73,000 to Houston-area students over the 8-year period.
